  • 11 years tutoring experience

I have a PhD in Communication, with an emphasis in Rhetoric, from Texas A&M University. Prior to earning my doctorate, I earned my MA in Communication and BA in Communication & English from Wake Forest University. I have 11 years of experience helping clients write, including primary and secondary school students, international students, Spanish-speaking students, undergraduate and graduate students, and NCAA student-athletes. I also do freelance editing for professionals, entrepreneurs, and researchers.

In addition to tutoring, I am a Part-Time Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University. I have taught college-level courses in public speaking, American oratory, persuasion, interviewing, and rhetorical criticism. I have also worked in tutoring centers at both Wake Forest University and Texas A&M University. In the summers, I direct the Great American Writers’ Camp. I have enjoyed these engagements as varied opportunities to closely work with students one-on-one outside of a classroom setting.

How I Tutor

Tutoring sessions are tailored to the needs and interests of each client. I can help students develop particular skills (e.g., detail, flow, organization). I can help students master various genres of writing (e.g., essays, reports, speeches, poetry, short stories). Most importantly, I help all students become comfortable and fluid in their writing by providing extra writing experiences beyond their school work. Of course, I can also help with any school work too!
