A Camp Worth Writing About! Established in 2011, the GAWC is back again with even more writing activities, strategies and projects. At this a creative writing camp held in Winston-Salem, NC, young writers hone their skills and styles as they develop ideas into stories, poems, arguments, speeches and more. Working in groups, individually, and one-on-one with an instructor, campers begin to see how their ideas and words have a place in the world around them.

About the Great American Writers' Camp
The Great American Writers’ Camp, LLC was founded in 2011 by Catherine Riley. The program is supported by the WFU Department of Communication and was established with a grant from the WFU Center for Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship. Additional guidance has been provided by the directors of the Great Valley Writing Project of California.
The GAWC is held at Wake Forest University in Carswell Hall. In addition to hosting the GAWC, Carswell Hall is also home to the WFU Department of Communication and the WFU Documentary Film Program.
